Croquet

Mike is an internationally ranked croquet player who has competed for both the U.S. and, more recently, Australia.

Mike competed in his first tournament, the Houston Open, in November 2000, off an assigned handicap of 7, finishing second in first flight, that event’s second tier competition.

14 months and 17 tournaments later, Mike was playing off a handicap of -0.5, and had won the championship flight event at each of the Dallas Invitational, the Mt. Laurel Invitational in Cashiers, North Carolina, the Meadow Club Invitational doubles on Long Island, NY, and the 2001 Houston Open, for both singles and doubles.

Having won 20 tournament titles including the US National Doubles Championship and the Canadian National Singles Championship over the next four years, in 2005 Mike was selected to represent the USA at the World Croquet Championships in Cheltenham, England where he finished 17th.






To further his croquet career, in 2007 Mike relocated from the U.S. to become a permanent resident of Australia as a result of being awarded a subclass 124, distinguished talent visa for sport by the Australian government.



Mike was selected for, and played in the 2009 Australian Trans Tasman team that competed for the Camden Park Trophy against New Zealand in Palmerston North, and came second in the 2009 New Zealand Open Doubles National Championships.

Mike has been a stalwart of the NSW state team since his arrival in Sydney and was a member of the 2007 team that lifted the Interstate Cup trophy in Perth, the NSW team’s first victory in the annual Eire Cup competition since 1970.

Mike is currently the #2 player in NSW and has a personal best ranking of world #29.
